Architect and urban designer Mitchell Joachim is cofounder of the New York-based Terreform 1, a nonprofit design collaborative whose projects focus on integrating the principles of ecology into an urban context. Formerly a member of MIT's Smart Cities Group, he has been involved with numerous award-winning projects, such as Fab Tree Hab, which was recently on exhibit at MoMA, and the Compacted Car, dubbed Time's Best Invention of the Year 2007. Joachim is currently an adjunct professor at Columbia University and a visiting professor at Parsons, The New School of Design.
